Additional Information: I acquired this plane from the descendant of a specialized tool shop owner in the Miki region. It had been on display in the shop’s showcase for a long time. It is unused and in good condition, though it has some minor rust. The dai (wooden block) is made of high-quality laminated wood, showing virtually no warping or twisting. Unfortunately, because the descendant did not inherit their predecessor’s knowledge about tools, they were unable to provide any further information regarding the blacksmith who forged this blade.
Judging from the precision and crafting characteristics of the blade, it is undoubtedly the work of a highly skilled plane blacksmith from the early Miki region. There is a blacksmith’s name engraved on the uragane (chip breaker), but despite my research, I could not find any further information about it. Furthermore, based on the distinct characteristics of the blade and the uragane, they appear to have been made by two different blacksmiths.
